Product information

Description

Feromin 12 capsules contain elemental iron 20mg, folic acid 400mcg, vitamin B12 10mcg, zinc 12mg, copper 1mg and vitamin C 50mg per capsule.

They are a nutritional supplement used to support red blood cell and haemoglobin production and help prevent or manage nutritional deficiencies that may contribute to tiredness and weakness.

Take as directed, preferably with food if it causes stomach upset; keep away from children and avoid taking additional iron supplements unless advised by a healthcare professional.

How to use

One capsule daily, or as directed. Take it with water, ideally an hour before food or two hours after, because iron is absorbed best on an emptyish stomach. If that causes nausea, take it with a small snack instead; a slightly lower absorption you can tolerate beats a perfect dose you abandon. Taking it with a glass of orange juice or another source of vitamin C improves absorption meaningfully. Keep at least two hours between this capsule and tea, coffee, milk, calcium supplements, antacids and thyroid tablets, all of which block iron. Anaemia takes months to correct, so continue for the full period advised, usually three months after the blood count normalises.

Important warnings

Do not take iron supplements simply because you feel tired. Confirm iron deficiency with a blood test first, because taking iron you do not need is harmful and because tiredness has many other causes. Avoid if you have haemochromatosis, thalassaemia or another iron-overload condition, or if you receive repeated blood transfusions. Iron overdose is one of the leading causes of poisoning death in small children, so keep this bottle locked away and out of sight. Tell your doctor if you have inflammatory bowel disease or a stomach ulcer. Vitamin B12 and folic acid can mask a B12 deficiency picture, so anaemia in an older adult should be properly investigated rather than self-treated.

Storage

Store below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place with the container tightly closed, away from sunlight and out of reach and sight of children. Do not transfer the capsules into an unlabelled container. Do not use after the expiry date on the pack.
