Fludex-C Syrup 100ml contains Paracetamol 120mg, Chlorpheniramine Maleate 2mg and Vitamin C 50mg per 5ml.
It is a children’s cold-and-flu medicine used to relieve fever, headache, sore throat, sneezing, blocked nose and runny nose associated with common colds and flu.
Chlorpheniramine helps control allergy/cold symptoms, while paracetamol reduces fever and pain and vitamin C provides nutritional support.
Take the dose stated on the pack, measured with the cup provided, usually every six to eight hours and no more often. Shake before pouring. Take it after food if it upsets your stomach. A dose at bedtime is the one most people find useful, since an irritating cough is worst when lying flat. Do not use it beyond five days without advice, do not combine it with another cough or cold preparation, and drink plenty of water alongside it, which thins secretions better than any syrup.
Confirm the ingredients with our pharmacist before combining this with any other cold remedy, flu sachet or paracetamol product. Syrups in this class usually cause drowsiness, so do not drive, ride a boda or operate machinery after a dose, and avoid alcohol. Where a decongestant is included, the syrup is unsuitable for people with high blood pressure, heart disease, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma or prostate enlargement, and must not be combined with an MAOI antidepressant. Where a cough suppressant is included, it should not be used for a wet productive cough or with SSRI antidepressants or tramadol without checking. Not for young children without specific advice. Seek care for breathlessness, chest pain, coughing blood, a fever above 38.5 for more than three days, or a cough lasting beyond three weeks.
Store below 25 degrees Celsius, upright and tightly capped, out of direct sunlight and away from heat, and out of reach of children. Keep the measuring cup with the bottle rather than in the drawer. Use within the in-use period stated on the carton once opened, and never after the printed expiry date.
