Gyno Care Kit contains Fluconazole, Azithromycin and Secnidazole; the exact strength of each medicine depends on the specific kit.
It is used to treat certain vaginal infections, including yeast infections and some bacterial or parasitic infections, helping relieve abnormal discharge, itching, irritation and discomfort.
Use only as directed and complete the treatment; avoid self-treatment during pregnancy or if there is pelvic pain, fever, unusual bleeding or severe symptoms.
This is a single-dose kit rather than a daily course. Take the whole kit at once after food, or exactly as your prescriber has written on the pack, with a full glass of water. Food matters here, because both secnidazole and azithromycin cause considerable nausea on an empty stomach and the whole treatment arrives in one sitting. Your sexual partner is normally treated at the same time with an equivalent kit, even without symptoms. Avoid sex until both of you have completed treatment and symptoms have resolved.
No alcohol during treatment or for at least three days afterwards; secnidazole with alcohol causes flushing, vomiting, headache and palpitations, and it lingers longer than metronidazole. Not for pregnancy or breastfeeding unless a doctor specifically prescribes it. Avoid in liver disease, known long QT syndrome, and with allergy to macrolides, azoles or nitroimidazoles. Tell the pharmacist about warfarin, phenytoin, ciclosporin, statins and any heart-rhythm medicine, since azithromycin and fluconazole both interact significantly. Seek urgent care for a blistering rash, yellow eyes, fainting or palpitations. This kit does not reliably treat gonorrhoea and does nothing for syphilis, herpes or HIV.
Store below 30 degrees Celsius in a dry place, out of reach of children. Keep the tablets in the original blister until you take them, so each of the three different medicines remains identifiable; loose tablets from a combination kit cannot be told apart. Do not use after the expiry date on the pack. Do not keep part of a kit for a later episode, since these tablets are designed to be taken together as one treatment.
