Suprazed DS Suspension contains Amoxicillin 125mg and Flucloxacillin 125mg per 5ml, two penicillin-type antibiotics that work together against certain bacterial infections.
It is used for bacterial infections such as those affecting the throat, ears, chest/lungs, skin and soft tissues, when prescribed.
Shake well before each dose and give exactly as directed; complete the full course and avoid use if the child has a serious penicillin allergy.
The powder is reconstituted with water by the pharmacist or exactly as the label directs. Shake vigorously before every dose and measure with the syringe or cup supplied. This combination contains flucloxacillin, so it should be given on an empty stomach, one hour before food or two hours after, and not with milk. It is usually given three or four times a day. Space the doses evenly, including the last one at bedtime, and complete the entire course rather than stopping when the wound looks clean or the fever breaks.
Not for any child with a penicillin or beta-lactam allergy, since both components are penicillins. Tell the prescriber about liver or kidney problems, previous jaundice on flucloxacillin, or glandular fever, in which amoxicillin causes a florid rash. Get emergency help for swelling of the face, lips or tongue, wheeze or difficulty breathing, or a rash that blisters or peels. Report yellow eyes, dark urine, pale stools or itching without a rash, which can appear up to two months after the course and suggest a liver reaction to the flucloxacillin. Severe or bloody diarrhoea also needs review rather than an anti-diarrhoeal.
Store the dry powder below 25 degrees Celsius in a dry place. Once made up, refrigerate between 2 and 8 degrees Celsius, do not freeze, and discard the remainder after the in-use period on the label, usually seven days, even if the bottle is not finished. Write the reconstitution date on the bottle. Shake before every dose and keep out of reach of children.
